Topic : Substitution Method
Question : Solve the following Linear Equations in 2 variables
2x-3y = -7
3x+y = -5
Solution :
2x-3y = -7………………………………………………………….(1)
3x+y = -5………………………………………………………….(2)
Substitution method:
Add -3x to both sides of equation (2)
3x+y-3x = -5-3x
y = -5-3x………………………………………………………….(3)
Substitute this value in Equation (1)
2x-3(-5-3x) = -7
2x+15+9x = -7
11x +15 =-7
Add -15 to both sides to the above
11x +15 -15 = -7-15
11x =-22
x = -2
Substituting this value in Equation No 3
y = -5-3(-2) =-5+6 =1
y = 1
Answer x = -2 y = 1
